Visakha Bucha Day

Friday, 20th May 2016
Honor the Spirit House at 09.00
Monk Ceremony at 10.00 am at the Yantra Hall

On Visakha Bucha Day, Buddhists gather together in worship to recollect the wisdom, purity and compassion of the Buddha. Visakha Bucha Day is a particularly auspicious day in Buddhism because it celebrates three important incidents in the life of The Buddha; the birth, the enlightenment and the passing away, all of which miraculously fall on the same month and date; the Vesak full moon day of the 6th lunar month.

On Visakha Bucha Day people put up religious flags outside their houses, take part in ceremonies at temples and make merits. Flowers, candles, and incense are offered to pay respect to the Triple Gem - Buddha (the Great Teacher), the Dhamma (the Truth) and the Sangha (the community of followers). In the evening, people take part in candle-lit processions, with each person carrying flowers, three incense sticks and a lighted candle as they circle the main chapel of the temple three times.

At Kamalaya, Buddhist Monks from Praderm Temple will hold a blessing ceremony on this special occasion. All guests and all staff of Kamalaya are cordially invited to join this precious ceremony.
